What happens when a substance is no longer an external object and begins to inhabit someone’s face? In 'The Alchemy of Identity,' I use projection techniques to merge human features with the visual representation of different substances. Each photograph is a study of 'chemical humanization,' where the subject fuses with the aura of the substance that defines them. This project explores the loss and reconstruction of identity under chemical influence, challenging the viewer to see the substance not as an abstract idea, but as a palpable human presence.
